Electro-hydraulic Control System

Problem:
The customer had a need for a very capable test system that applied various physical forces/movements to a product. The physical control required a combination of force, position, and velocity control depending on the test requirements.

Solution:
We built a WinNT PC control system with a supervisory PLC. The PLC keeps an "eye" on things and allows the machine to be positioned and run without the PC. The control system is a dual-axis, closed-loop valve control based on force, position and velocity. We achieved bumperless transfer between the modes with very high accuracy and good dynamic performance.
